Find out more about Michigan lapband surgery!
Return to activities
Your lap band surgeon will want you to begin to start walking immediately after surgery. Most doctors will ask you to not strain excessively and not to lift more than 20 pounds for the first 2 weeks after surgery.
Return to work
If you do not have a physically strenuous job and do not do any heavy lifting, you can generally go back to work within a few days. Many patients report using pain medication for only one or two days after surgery so they are able to return to work without needing pain medication that can make you drowsy.
That said, let’s say you’ve met with the experts, got your pre-screening done and have been told that you are able to have the procedure, what is next? Well, essentially the purpose of the lap band procedure is to create a small pouch that will help limit both food intake as well as slow digestion. The idea here is that you are aided in your weight loss goals without the need for chemicals or pills that will artificially suppress your appetite.
You are simply eating less and feeling full longer, without potential and harmful side effects.
So, with lap band surgery, as with other options, there are pros and cons. However, if you’ve decided that this is the method for you to lose the weight you want (and provided you are a candidate), then, the advantages will far outweigh the disadvantages.
In short, they are looking for a relatively detailed medical history centering around your weight loss issues.
